"How much does a pressure pump cost?" is the first question most customers in Tirupur ask us. There is no single number, because five things decide the price. Understanding them helps you compare quotes fairly.
1. Pump size (HP)
A bigger motor costs more. But bigger is not better. The right size comes from your number of bathrooms and floors. A 0.5 HP booster is enough for many 1 to 2 bathroom homes, while a 5 to 6 bathroom house may need 1.0 to 1.5 HP. Our guide on how to choose a pressure booster pump shows how to work it out.
2. Pressure tank size
A pressure pump with a tank costs more than a bare pump, and a 100 litre tank costs more than a 24 litre one. The tank is worth it: it stops the pump from starting for every small use, so the pump lasts longer and the pressure feels smoother.
3. Fixed speed or variable speed
A fixed-speed pump switches fully on and fully off between two pressure settings. A variable-speed pump changes its motor speed to hold one constant pressure. Variable-speed boosters, such as the Grundfos SCALA2, cost noticeably more but are quieter and more comfortable to use.
4. Materials
Stainless steel pumps cost more than cast iron or plastic-bodied pumps, but they resist corrosion and are suitable for potable water. Copper winding in the motor also adds to the price and to the life of the pump.
5. Brand and installation
- Watello: our own stainless steel pressure pumps with tank, with direct support from us. See the Watello series.
- CRI: a familiar Coimbatore brand with easy local service. See CRI pressure pumps.
- Lubi: a broad range that suits buildings needing several pumps. See Lubi pressure pumps.
- Grundfos: premium variable-speed boosters. See Grundfos pressure pumps.
Remember to include installation in your budget: valves, a non-return valve, fittings, wiring and labour.
How to compare two quotes
- Check that both pumps give the same flow at the same head, not just the same HP.
- Check the tank size and what the pump is made of.
- Ask what warranty and service are included, and who provides them.
Send us your number of floors and bathrooms and we will quote correctly sized options from more than one brand, so you can compare like for like. All options are on our pressure pumps page.
